Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)



Position:   The CNO directs, organizes, staffs, supervises and controls all nursing and assigned patient-care services, including the Acute Care, Long-Term Care, Emergency, Outpatient, Forensics, Pharmacy, Lab, Imaging, Surgical and Home-Health Services Departments. The CNO develops patient-care goals and objectives in support of the hospital goals and coordinates the activities of the patient-care department managers to accomplish those goals. The CNO is responsible for the operation of assigned patient-care services, including determining the types and numbers of staff necessary to provide patient care for these areas throughout the hospital.  The CNO reports to the CEO.

  • BSN, required
  • Masters in Nursing, Healthcare or Business Admin, required
  • Alaska RN License, required
  • 5-7 years of clinical and leadership experience within an acute care setting,
  • 5+ years of executive leadership experience as a CNO, required
  • Overall experience in all settings:  ICU, Med Surg, ED, LTC, Surgical Services,
  • BLS required, required
  • Willingness to Travel Occasionally, preferred
