Organizational Development Specialist

DEPARTMENT:  Human Resources

 

JOB SUMMARY: Design and implement structured training and development strategies.  Teach/facilitate training programs utilizing applicable adult learning principals. Operate as an internal consultant by employing strong organizational development consulting skills. Complete and share evaluation, measurement and reporting methods to show effectiveness of training programs.  Follow up and coach co-workers, front line and middle leaders on training content and skill development in order to achieve ministry results.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree Required (Discipline Specific).

 

Experience:  Minimum of 1-5 years education/training experience; previous experience developing and delivering curriculum preferred. Proficiency in the use of computer applications, specifically using PowerPoint and eLearning platforms. Previous experience in project management as well as people management.

 

Physical Requirements:  This job requires, at various times, the following physical activities; climbing, balancing, sitting, stopping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, carrying, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.  Must be able to lift 20 lbs.  Must be able to stand for four or more hours.  Must be able to bend, reach, and manipulate bulky objects.

 

Skills:   Demonstrated facilitation/training skills. Basic education and organizational development consulting skills.  Superior organizational and classroom management skills.  Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills with multiple customers.   Displays excellent critical thinking/synthesis skills, effective facilitation and problem solving skills.  Demonstrates ability to build and promote effective working relationships with multiple types of disciplines.  Posses the ability to multi-task, identify resource needs/problems, and implement creative solutions.  Exhibits the ability to maintain composure during stressful situations.

 

PRIMARY CUSTOMERS:  Hospital leadership, Human Resources, front line staff, and physicians.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:  Reports to Market Director of Organizational Development.

 

 

SCHEDULE REQUIRMENTS:  Must be able to work some nights/weekends.  Ability to travel 0-25% of the time (in-state, no overnights).

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1 . TRAINING/FACILITATION

  • Teach/facilitate training programs
  • Apply various adult learning principals during development and delivery of courses
  • Apply basic performance consulting skills
  • Design and implement training programs within assigned facility/departments served
  • Complete and share evaluation/measurement reports to show effectiveness of training programs
  • Support training strategy by actively participating in various leadership meetings and coworker forums and communicating strategy with facility served
  • Provide project management support to assist with organizational change or performance improvement
  • Follow up and coach front line coworkers on training content and skill development
  • Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the St. Vincent Health System mission, vision, and core values in leadership behavior, practices and decisions
  • Develops, facilitates and evaluates new coworker orientation program for staff and providers on an on-going basis
  • Leads in development of training materials for and the delivery of new coworker orientation
  • Assesses educational needs through a variety of methods both formal and informal
  • Coordinates and leads project team meetings as needed

 

2 . COMMUNICATION

  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships with hospital leadership, staff, physicians, ancillary staff and all other members of the Health Care Team
  • Promotes positive department and organizational problem resolution, promotes teamwork, cohesiveness, and time management among self and other staff members
