Behavioral Health Clinical Director – West Coast

Are you incurably passionate about the need for behavioral health services for the frail elderly population and leading a team of behavioral health professionals on part of an interdisciplinary care team leading a successful national comprehensive value-based care model for seniors?

In this role you will provide direction/supervision of the BH team of professionals in a multi-state area with several locations, evaluating processes, procedures, and workflows to improve the BH component of the plan of care for seniors.  You will be an integral member of a matrixed leadership team at the local level, as well as work collaboratively with corporate to ensure the achievement of performance goals regarding quality, compliance, resource management and customer services within the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE product).  You will also lean into and utilize your clinical expertise 30% of the time weighing in on clinical BH interventions including initial assessments, diagnostic clarification, chart review, and treatment recommendations reflective of scope of practice and licensure.  

60% – Leadership

• Strive for best practices with clinical performance outcomes and quality measurements.
• Collaborate with leadership across departments to implement consistent policies and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with state regulations, applicable licensing, certification, and accreditation requirements and maintain regulatory oversight plan.
• Collaborate with IDT and operations to improve outcomes and address service utilization.
• Review BH documentation for quality and compliance
• Provide your clinical expertise to support BH team and train IDT members.
• Lead by example as coach and mentor to team members

30% – Care & Administration

• Co-manage the assessment and treatment of psychiatric, psychosocial, and behavioral health changes with a solutions focused approach and in consultation with IDT.
• Collaborate with IDT to guide behavioral interventions that will be reinforced in medical visits.
• Support de-escalation at the participant and staff level as needed.
• Facilitate and oversee referrals to external providers including psychiatrists and community mental health centers.
• Collaborates with IDT/external providers/caregivers to resolve participant behavioral complexities and reduce risk of an inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.

10% – Financial/External Provider Relationships

• Develops and supports external behavioral health provider network and contracts.
• Advises on BH budget for region in collaboration with leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 years’ experience as PsyD or PMHN with unrestricted license with familiarity in Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychotropic medications, as well as Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5TR) criteria.
• Two years of supervisory/managerial experience leading staff.
• Integrated BH care model emphasis/clinical practice/knowledge of psychotropic medication management.
• Strong understanding of health care quality outcomes and metrics.
• Experience working with elderly patients.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
